(Homeland) - Hanoians seem to have exhausted all the city's attractions. So why not head to Hòa Lạc for some weekend relaxation?
During the weekends, many young people in Hanoi are at a loss for where to go. The city's usual spots have become too routine, and with only 2 days off, they don't want to venture too far. But fear not, because just about 40 kilometers from Hanoi, roughly a 1-hour drive by car, Hòa Lạc, Thạch Thất, is also a worthwhile destination for you to explore this weekend.
How to get there?
Getting to Hòa Lạc is as easy as pie! From downtown Hanoi, simply head towards Thăng Long Boulevard and continue straight along that road. As mentioned earlier, traveling by motorbike or car will take less than an hour depending on your speed, as the distance is only 40 kilometers.
For those without personal transportation, head to Mỹ Đình bus station to find Vinbus route 88 with a ticket price of 9,000 Dong. This route will take you to various points in Hòa Lạc such as Hòa Lạc High-tech Park, Hòa Lạc High School, Viettel building, and just 50 meters from FPT University - also a spot we'll be visiting this weekend.
What to eat, where to go?
For those traveling solo and looking to save on food costs, consider stopping by Phan Thi beef noodle shop at At Thao 3 rest stop, about 4.5km from FPT University Hòa Lạc.
But if you're out with family or friends, everyone can chip in to enjoy a famous dish in Hòa Lạc: field crab hotpot. Across from Block 10, Lang Hòa Lạc boasts several crab hotpot eateries with prices ranging from 300 to 500 Dong per pot, packed with vegetables, tofu, beef, and ribs - sitting around the hotpot amidst this cool autumn sky, what could be better?
After a satisfying meal, where to next? Your first stop could be the FPT Hòa Lạc campus. The campus features a unique design, resembling LEGO blocks made of brick and glass arranged alternately. The buildings undulate, with sections of varying heights and plenty of greenery as it is “a special architectural work, with sustainable green ideas, providing users with a friendly and harmonious feeling with nature, cherishing the place for work and study”.
FPT isn't the only university in Hòa Lạc. If you have time, explore the Hanoi National University campus in Hòa Lạc. Despite being an educational institution, VNU Hòa Lạc boasts a sprawling campus of 1,113 hectares. Surrounding the campus are numerous spots for photo ops, such as lush tea hills or expansive lotus ponds, providing a refreshing atmosphere that invigorates the soul!
