Enhancing the security of your home WiFi network
Method 1: Rename your current WiFi network.
Changing the name of your WiFi network is a practical way to minimize the risk of unauthorized access. Please note that after applying this method, you should restart the WiFi settings or change the WiFi password to ensure that previous access is no longer valid.
Step 1: To rename your network, access the default system management at '192.168.1.1 ' and log in.
Step 2: In the Wireless Settings section, modify the SSID which is essentially the name of your WiFi being broadcasted.
Additionally, pay attention to two features here: Enable Wireless Router Radio and Enable SSID Broadcast . These are functionalities that help you broadcast and display the WiFi signal. Uncheck them to conceal your WiFi network.
Note: If you disable these features, you will need to manually search for WiFi networks.
Method 2: Change your WiFi password
Securing your home WiFi is crucial, and changing the WiFi password is a highly effective measure. Ensure the safety of your WiFi network with this method.
Within the admin system, navigate to Wireless Security. Change the WiFi password by locating PSK Password. Remember to save after updating the password. Avoid using simple and easily guessable passwords.
Note: Copy the password to a secure location, such as a Word file or your phone, to prevent forgetting it.
Step 3: Adjusting the bandwidth for your WiFi network
By opting for this method, you're essentially granting access to your WiFi while maintaining strict control. Lower the bandwidth for users by associating IP addresses with reduced bandwidth.
Step 1: In the Bandwidth Control section, choose Control settings and activate Enable Bandwidth Control Settings, then save.
Step 2: Navigate to the Rules List to establish bandwidth limit rules. Click add new to create a new rule.
Within this, select Enable to activate. Then enter the IP or IP group you want to restrict. Finally, choose the speed and save.
Note: When limiting bandwidth, ensure your devices are outside the restricted area. Isolate all IPs within the restricted zone for external users.
