The city of Da Nang has propelled itself into a livable and modern city, attracting tourists and developing into what it is today. The architectural structures of Da Nang have significantly contributed to its outstanding progress.
'Enthralled' by the Architectural Marvels of Da Nang
Da Nang Central Administrative Building
Constructed in the shape of corn (maize), the Da Nang Central Administrative Building stands out as unique and distinctive to visitors. From a distance, the building resembles a giant corn, serving as the administrative hub for city procedures and public services.

With the aim of reducing inconvenience in dealing with the government by minimizing travel, Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh, the then Party Secretary, decided to construct a centralized administrative building. The building, when put into use, aimed to put an end to the disorderliness and inefficiency of civil servants, saving resources and gradually eliminating wasteful practices.
The construction of the administrative building commenced in November 2008, with a total investment in construction adjusted several times to 2.321 billion dong. After 6 years of construction, the building was completed and operational in September 2014.

This is also the tallest building in Central Vietnam, with a height of 166.8 meters. Equipped with 21,00 square meters of tempered glass with energy-saving capabilities, heat absorption resistance, each tempered glass panel is envisioned as the 'kernels' of a 'giant corn.'
Da Nang Cathedral
The Da Nang Cathedral is also included in the list of unique architectural works in Da Nang. Located at 156 Tran Phu, the cathedral's construction started in February 1923, led by Father Louis Vallet, and the overall landscape was sketched on the vacant land of Rue du Musee (now Tran Phu Street).

The Cathedral is nearly 70 meters tall, the only church built in Da Nang during the French colonial period. The architecture follows the Gothic style with soaring lines and round doorways resembling quatrefoils. Inside the church are paintings and statues of Jesus illustrating biblical scenes, decorated in an artistic form found in Western churches.

Behind the cathedral is the Our Lady's rock cave, modeled after the Lourdes rock cave in France. The church goes by various names: Tourane Church (during the French colonial period); Con Ga Church (on the church's roof is a gray rooster symbol made of lightweight hollow alloy).

As explained by the parish priest, the rooster on the church roof is a symbol closely associated with the story of Saint Peter recorded in the Gospel, reminding of repentance and awakening. Since 1963, the parish officially refers to itself as the Da Nang Cathedral Parish.
APEC Park Expansion
Commenced in October 2020, the APEC Park expansion covers an area of 8,668 square meters with a total investment of 759.15 billion dong in Binh Hien Ward, Hai Chau District.

This unique project consists of a basement, the first floor, and the second floor (roof) with a vaulted roof as the main highlight, featuring a wide vaulted structure, and the space below is utilized for community activities. The total height of the structure is 15.7 meters.
The architecture of the arched roof curves with the shape of a soaring kite, expressing comprehensive development, meeting the requirements of a leading city in economic, cultural, and political development for the entire Central region in this new phase.

East Beach Park
East Beach Park is a distinctive architectural marvel in Da Nang, encompassing its name, location, design, and the significance it holds. It stands along Pham Van Dong Street, running parallel to the sea on Hoang Sa Street. Positioned to offer a direct view of the Hoang Sa archipelago, the park is a unique blend of artistry and purpose.

Visitors to Da Nang often stroll along the brick-paved path amidst lush greenery, enjoying the fresh air within the park. With no entrance gates or restrictive boundaries, the expansive park space provides a sense of freedom and relaxation for tourists.

The park is also a delightful choice for photography enthusiasts and couples capturing wedding moments. Nature lovers are drawn to the park to admire the nurtured doves in the dove garden, established since March 2009, with the current dove population exceeding 1,050.
Another highlight of the park is the placement of sculptural artworks. Notably, the sculpture 'Mother Au Co' by sculptor Le Cong Thanh stands as an emblem of East Beach Park.

East Beach Park hosts numerous festival activities, including the annual 'Summer Rendezvous' program since 2012. It serves as a venue for various beach sports such as banana boat rides, surfing, and jet skiing, as well as street festivals, culinary events, and cultural celebrations.

The architectural wonders of Da Nang contribute to the city's sophisticated, modern, and appealing appearance for tourists, increasing the number of extended stays in Da Nang. Stay updated on the latest travel information at the Mytour blog for a more enriching journey.
