In the bone-chilling -40°C cold, fishermen and tourists at the frozen lakes in Mongolia remain excitedly casting their nets, seemingly unaffected by the extreme conditions.
Excitement Abounds as Tourists Go Ice Fishing on Frozen Mongolian Lakes

Hulun is one of China's top 5 largest freshwater lakes, spanning a total area of 2,339 square kilometers. The region frequently welcomes visitors for ice fishing on the snowy surface when temperatures drop below -20°C. However, to comply with regulations in the fishing industry and marine environment, only 1,000 tons of fish have been caught since the winter of 2014.
Ice fishing has been a longstanding tradition for centuries among the Mongolian people. However, it has now evolved into a unique and captivating pastime, attracting tourists worldwide. The ideal season for fishing coincides with the coldest time of the year, with daytime temperatures ranging from -26°C to a minimum of -40°C.
