Some Esports games were released with high expectations from both developers and players, but the reality turned out differently.
AOG – Arena of Glory
This was one of the mobile MOBA games released in 2019. AOG was initially expected to compete with the likes of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Arena of Valor – two renowned MOBA products at the time. The game boasted many intriguing elements such as expansive maps, heroes with four skills, and warding...

However, due to its 'difficult to play' factors, AOG couldn't succeed on the mobile platform. Matches lasting nearly an hour, combined with objective and subjective reasons like map hacks, poor internet connections, and difficulty in finding matches... led to AOG losing traction after just one month of release. As a result, the game shut down in less than a year after its launch.
Crossfire: Renegade
Crossfire Zero, introduced in June 2020, officially launched its Open Beta in the Vietnamese market. This collaboration between Smilegate, the mastermind behind Crossfire, and VTC Online was perceived as an upgraded version of Crossfire, promising enhanced visuals while preserving the essence of the original game.

However, Crossfire: Zero became one of the shortest-lived games in the history of the Vietnamese gaming scene, existing for only a few months. Its abrupt closure left many players stunned, as nobody anticipated such a swift demise. The game's downfall was attributed to its heavily monetized gameplay and widespread hacking from the initial days. Nevertheless, nobody expected Crossfire: Zero to last for such a short period.
Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier
This game was released with aspirations of creating a visually stunning and captivating mobile survival experience. In reality, Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier boasted high-quality graphics and the renowned Final Fantasy VII brand. However, it too had to close down after just a year of release.

Simply put, the player base for this game was insufficient, and the Final Fantasy VII brand couldn't draw enough players from competing survival titles like PUBG Mobile and Free Fire. Losing the battle against these giants, the closure of Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier was not surprising. It seems that shortly after its launch, Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier faded into obscurity for many.
