Exemplary Essay: The Brave Young Hero: In Tribute to Lý Tự Trọng
Essay
Our national history spans two resistance wars against the French and the Americans, fraught with challenges and hardships. Amidst that arduous struggle, we witnessed numerous courageous young individuals, determined to defend their homeland. Among these heroes, none inspire me more than the legendary Lý Tự Trọng. The brave youth fearlessly confronted the enemy with immense patriotism, instilling in me a source of motivation and noble inspiration in both thought and action.
Lý Tự Trọng, originally named Lê Hữu Trọng, was born in 1914 as a Vietnamese expatriate. He was one of the youngest revolutionaries in our nation's history during the resistance against the Americans. Born and raised in Ban May village, Nakhon province, Thailand, he devoted his life to the liberation of Vietnam. From a young age, he participated in the revolution. At the age of ten, he was sent to study in China, and upon his return, he actively engaged in revolutionary activities and served as a liaison for the Southern Provincial Party Committee with the Communist Party of Vietnam.
In 1931, at just sixteen years old, he shot and killed the spy Le Grand during a demonstration. Immediately after, he was captured by the enemy and sentenced to death. Despite being captured and sentenced to death before turning seventeen, Lý Tự Trọng bravely defended his beliefs. Before his death, he passionately shouted two words: 'Vietnam! Vietnam!' I deeply admire his profound patriotism, unwavering spirit, and intense hatred for the enemy. His ideals have fueled my dreams; I aspire to actively contribute to the defense of our homeland. To realize this dream, I must study harder, further develop myself, and nurture my love for my country.
Furthermore, from him, I have also learned the spirit of curiosity, as Lý Tự Trọng was proficient in two foreign languages, Chinese and English. That serves as motivation for me during foreign language classes and challenging exercises. He instilled in me the motivation to strive harder in my studies.
Though he has departed, the example of Lý Tự Trọng will forever shine and illuminate the path, serving as motivation and imparting noble inspiration for thinking, dreaming, and acting not only for me but for all Vietnamese youth.
