Passport
Vietnamese citizens holding passports are eligible for visa-free entry to Thailand and can stay for up to 30 days when traveling by air. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Thailand.
When traveling to Thailand by land, the duration of stay will not exceed 15 days. However, if you intend to stay longer in Thailand, you will need a tourist visa issued by the Thai consulate abroad, allowing a stay of up to 2 months. Note that this type of visa must be used within 3 months from the date of issuance to be eligible for extension.

Vietnamese citizens need a passport to enter Thailand
In case of diplomatic passports or being an official, you need authorization from the relevant agency.
If you do not have a passport or it has expired, you need to apply for a new one to be eligible for travel to Thailand. To apply for a passport, you need to prepare the following necessary documents:
- Template for applying for a standard passport
(Type x01 template).
According to CCSA, travelers entering Thailand will no longer need a Thailand Pass or COVID-19 insurance. Upon arrival in Thailand, travelers only need to present a vaccination certificate or a negative COVID-19 test result.
Copy of ID card
In addition to the original ID card, it is advisable to carry a copy of the ID card. Although this is not a mandatory document for entry into Thailand, it is recommended to have a few photocopies of the ID card and passport in case of lost luggage and to receive assistance from the embassy.

Round-trip air ticket (with separate transportation from Thailand)
Both round-trip air and transportation tickets are among the necessary documents when traveling to Thailand. Therefore, before your trip, ensure to print out your pre-booked air ticket and present it upon entering Thailand. Furthermore, providing your flight ticket to Thailand serves as evidence to customs that you are only visiting for a short duration. Note that any type of ticket is accepted as long as you depart Thailand.

For those traveling to Thailand by land, presenting a departure transportation ticket is essential. Ensure clear information regarding departure dates and destinations. In case you lack a transportation ticket, you can follow this trick: Visit the VietjetAir website and reserve a flight from Bangkok to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, opt for a 24-hour hold (post-payment service). This way, you will receive an email, and all you need to do is print this email.
Please note that if you choose this method, refrain from booking return flights (from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok) as customs will detect it.

Travel itinerary (if available)
In addition to the aforementioned Thai immigration documents, you'll also need to provide your travel itinerary if available. For example: Where you'll be visiting on the first day in Thailand, what you'll be doing on the second day, the plan for the third day, when your trip will conclude, etc.
According to Thai travel experience, the more detailed and comprehensive your presentation, the easier it is to enter Thailand. This demonstrates clear intent for your trip to Thailand and customs will be more likely to approve it.
