1. Essential Guidelines for Proper Refrigerator Meat Freezing
Meat preservation is crucial, especially during freezing in the refrigerator; lack of caution can lead to health issues.
Meat, a vital human food, is versatile and beloved. When dealing with excess meat, freezing is a common solution. However, lack of understanding of preservation principles can turn the meat into what is known as zombie meat. Zombie meat, frozen for an extended period, degrades in quality and regular consumption can have serious consequences for the body.
Here are some considerations for meat preservation by freezing:
Fresh Meat
Freshly bought meat can be stored in the freezer for up to a month. If only a small portion is needed, thaw a bit and store the remaining meat in the refrigerator. Avoid keeping this type of meat for too long.
Thawed Meat Multiple Times
Once meat is thawed, the internal structure changes, making it susceptible to rapid bacterial growth. If frozen and thawed multiple times, the meat will deteriorate, and the taste will diminish. If unable to consume all at once, cut into small pieces and store in separate bags. When eating, simply take out one portion, and the others will remain intact.

Pre-packaged Frozen Meat
Most of these meats are frozen chicken and some other types. After purchase, thawing and refreezing in the refrigerator is not suitable. During thawing in the refrigerator's cool compartment, if unable to consume a meal at once, divide it for consumption the next day, but avoid keeping it for more than 3 days.
Frozen Seafood
Seafood such as fish, shrimp, and crab, when frozen, loses its freshness. Moreover, the shelf life of these meats is shorter than that of pork, chicken, and duck.
If seafood is bought fresh and frozen immediately without any thawing, it can be stored for an extended period, up to 2 months.

Home refrigerators differ from supermarket freezers. Household refrigerators are frequently opened throughout the day, causing fluctuations in the interior temperature and reducing the meat's storage time. If meat is stored in a separate freezer, the storage time can be relatively long, up to 6 months.
Frozen meat poses no health issues when storage time is closely monitored. It's advisable not to consume meats that have been frozen for an extended period and instead opt for fresh meat for better quality.
