Exceeding iPhone, Huawei Mate 60 Pro successfully completes satellite calls

While the iPhone 14 series supports satellite communication for messaging only, the Huawei Mate 60 Pro goes further by supporting both messaging and calls, making it the first commercial smartphone worldwide to offer satellite call support.

Specifically, Chinese blogger Xiao Xin tested the satellite calling feature of the Huawei Mate 60 Pro and successfully connected with a satellite. Not only can the mobile phone make satellite calls, but it can also send text messages via satellite.

Huawei Mate 60 Pro supports satellite calls

The Mate 60 Pro can make satellite calls without the need for support from the Tiantong-1 mobile satellite communication system. In deserted areas, at sea, or during earthquake rescue operations where ground network signal coverage is absent, users can make satellite calls through the Huawei Mate 60 Pro to stay in touch with the outside world and obtain search and rescue information.

Satellite calling may not be used as frequently as other features, but in emergency situations, it can be a life-saving feature.
