Sorting Data in Excel 2007
In this article, I'll guide you on how to sort data in Excel 2007.
Step 1: Select the data range you want to sort -> then go to the Home tab -> select Sort & Filter ->and choose the sorting type you prefer.
If you want to sort columns of text data, when you select Sort & Filter, there will be sorting options: Sort A to Z (sort from A to Z), Sort Z to A (sort from Z to A).
+ If you choose Sort A to Z, the data in Excel will be sorted as shown below:
+ If you choose Sort Z to A, the Excel spreadsheet data will be sorted as depicted in the image below:
If you're sorting a column of numerical data -> when you select Sort & Filter, sorting options will appear: Sort Smallest to Largest and Sort Largest to Smallest.

Step 2: You can customize sorting by selecting the data range you want to sort -> then go to the Home tab -> Sort & Filter -> choose Custom Sort.
In the Sort dialog box, you'll select some information as follows:
+ Sort by: Choose the column you want to sort data by.
+ Sort On: Sort data based on which aspect.
+ Order: Choose how to sort data, in ascending or descending order, A -> Z or Z -> A...
Step 3: Next, press OK to initiate the sorting process.
And the final outcome will be sorted according to your preference:
