What is a single pile? Simply put, a single pile, also known as a pile foundation, is a type of foundation supporting a single column or a cluster of closely spaced columns. It serves to bear loads and is commonly used for renovation, reinforcement, or construction in structures with light to moderate loads, such as one-story houses, two-story houses, three-story houses... with relatively firm soil underneath.

Nowadays, single piles are used in small-scale projects and are the most cost-effective type of foundation among all types of piles. In fact, in some areas with weak soil and one-story construction projects, you can still use this type of pile but you need to reinforce the soil by installing timber piles or bamboo piles.
