Today, Microsoft unveiled a new command-line app called Windows Terminal. Essentially, this is an updated command-line tool for Windows 10 that offers a rich user interface, while allowing users to customize their experiences.
If you're a PowerShell user, Windows Subsystem for Linux enthusiast, or CMD aficionado, you'll surely appreciate the new Windows Terminal app.
Expected Deployment: Windows Terminal set to be available for users in June, featuring functionalities like tab support. These features were confirmed to be operational a few weeks after Windows Sets was rumored to be discontinued.
Quoting from the blog post on Microsoft's homepage:
'Windows Terminal is the new app for Windows command-line users, offering a rich user interface, support for emojis, and GPU-accelerated graphics processing to display text. Additionally, the new app will also support multiple tabs and themes and customizations, allowing users to personalize their Terminal.'
During the event, Microsoft also introduced a demo of the Windows Terminal app, along with announcing a series of new features such as AI chatbot for Cortana, or new features on the Chromium-based Edge browser.
