Recalling the 2017 launch of the iPhone X commemorating a decade of iPhone innovation, what does Apple Watch X hold in store for eager users? Let's delve into the anticipation surrounding this device.
Insights into Apple Watch XDesign
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple is gearing up to introduce substantial design improvements to the Apple Watch in celebration of its 10-year anniversary. Apple aims to make the Apple Watch even thinner with a sleeker casing and refreshed design.
Apple Watch X might boast a fresh designStraps
Gurman reveals that Apple is exploring novel methods for attaching straps to the Apple Watch, including a new magnetic system. If implemented, this could allow the company to utilize space inside for integrating a larger battery for the Apple Watch as well as other components.
The next iteration of the Apple Watch could feature a new magnetic strap systemHowever, adopting the new magnetic strap system would render the Apple Watch X incompatible with straps from older models. Since its debut in 2015, Apple has ensured that new Apple Watch models remain compatible with existing straps.
Display
Rumors suggest that Apple is researching microLED technology for the Apple Watch, potentially debuting in 2025. This coincides with Apple's plans to launch the Apple Watch X, making it unsurprising that this is the company's first smartwatch utilizing this technology.
Interestingly, some rumors suggest that microLED is a feature designed for a larger Apple Watch Ultra, as Apple is experimenting with a 2.1-inch diagonal screen. However, it's not ruled out that this display technology will appear on the long-rumored Apple Watch X.
Apple to Enhance Watch X DisplayMicroLED is a relatively new technology utilizing ultra-small LED lights for each pixel. It's more energy-efficient than LED technology and, while offering similar benefits to OLED, it has a longer lifespan and lower risk of screen burn-in.
Thanks to individual pixel-level lighting, microLED displays have faster response times and better contrast than other display types, along with more vibrant and brighter colors. Apple has heavily invested in microLED technology since 2015.
Health Features
Apple is exploring new health features for the Apple Watch 2024, potentially labeled as the “Apple Watch X”. One rumored feature is blood pressure monitoring. Instead of providing specific systolic and diastolic readings, the Apple Watch will notify users if their blood pressure is trending upwards.
The sleep apnea detection feature is also planned for 2024, with the Apple Watch using overnight sleep data along with breathing patterns to determine if users experience sleep apnea symptoms.
Numerous features will be added to the Watch X by AppleApple is also striving to create an Apple Watch capable of measuring blood sugar levels, but the technology is still in development, so it's unlikely to appear on the Apple Watch X. Apple aims to measure blood sugar without skin pricks (using infrared light and other sensors), but so far, no one has reliably figured out how to do this. Glucose monitoring requires extreme accuracy, which is difficult to achieve without causing skin tears.
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg says this feature will appear on the Apple Watch towards the end of this decade.
Release Timing
Gurman suggests it remains unclear whether Apple will release a new watch in 2024 or 2025. The original Apple Watch debuted in September 2014 but wasn't available for purchase until April 2015, so Apple could use either of these times to commemorate the Apple Watch.
Apple Watch X may debut later this yearWith the Apple Watch Series 9 already available, the Apple Watch Series 10 or 'X' would be more fitting for 2024 rather than 2025, but naming it X at this point is merely speculation. Let's wait and see!
