I've been captivated by Xiaomi's Ultra series for the past few years, eagerly awaiting the 13 Ultra. From the leaks and the glimpses we've seen so far, it seems truly remarkable. However, I have a few concerns I'd like to share with you all. Of course, I'm still planning to purchase the 13 Ultra as I'm keen on experiencing premium Android, and because of my interest, I've been pondering over it...Top-notch Display Quality from TCL's Ultra-Bright Panel
On paper, the 13 Ultra's screen looks truly impressive. However, my experience tells me that specs only tell half of the story. Even in real-world usage, many users struggle to discern differences and rely on specs for affirmation.
What about the new display panel? The front design still seems stuck in the past
When the leaks of the 13 Ultra surfaced, I was thrilled because the screen bezels looked incredibly even and thin. I've previously used the regular Xiaomi 13, and its bezels were already quite beautiful, or currently, I'm using the Nubia Z50 Ultra with its slim and even bezels, and I love it.
On the left is the leaked front view of the 13 Ultra, on the right is the actual front view of the 13 Ultra.
However, upon seeing real-life images of people holding it, the bezels of the 13 Ultra still aren't impressive. Compared to the iPhone, S23 Ultra, it falls short, and even compared to the Nubia Z50 Ultra or just the regular Xiaomi 13, it's already inferior.
And it would be a disaster when those whimsically curved corner edges combine with Android 13, causing the menu bar or the swipe-up indicator to appear pitch black, forming a strange shape on the screen.
These are some of the annoying images when using Android with curved corner screens. Many apps get cut off at the top or bottom, including widely used apps like Facebook. In the image, I'm using Google Chrome in this area, and it's also affected... at this point, the phone looks mismatched inside and out.
So, if the screen were flat like the S23 Ultra or the Nubia Z50 Ultra, the feeling of being cut off, the sense of mismatch would lessen. But with curved screens, the feeling of being cut off and out of sync is much more pronounced. With iOS, iPhones and iPads have rounded corners, but Apple and app developers update apps promptly, so there's no issue with black bars causing screen cuts.

Another notable point is the accessory bundle introduced by Xiaomi for the 13 Ultra. There are grips, straps for attaching filters... these accessories aren't very expensive, but in my opinion, they won't add much value for users. The phone itself is already large, and users can have all its best features. Adding accessories doesn't provide a better experience, and the most stressful part is always having to carry and attach them, taking up a lot of time... at this point, it's better to just bring a camera along.
Looks fancy but lacks practicality.
Conclusion
I'm not trying to criticize the Xiaomi 13 Ultra; I absolutely adore it. I'm just analyzing from the perspective of someone considering buying it to understand how they might perceive it. Although I buy many devices, I always research the one I'm purchasing to avoid surprises, disappointments, or excessive excitement...
Hey folks, as soon as I've got the goods, they're in your hands. I've decided to go for the white color because it resonates with my soul: pure and innocent.
