Captions Sticker, also known as subtitle stickers, will not only help users with hearing impairments easily interact with video content, but also provide another way for Instagram users to watch videos without disturbing others around them or without wearing headphones.
New subtitle stickers added for Stories and Reels on Instagram
To use this feature, first, you need to record a new video using the Stories or Reels camera within the Instagram app or select a video to upload from your phone's library. Then, open the sticker tray and search for the new Captions sticker. This sticker will convert your speech into text. You can customize the font, color, and position of the captions. Additionally, you can edit and replace specific words in case the automatic transcription has added some incorrect words or if the captions are missing proper punctuation. All you have to do is tap on an individual word to adjust before posting your story.

As mentioned earlier, Instagram users with hearing impairments will rely on creators to view subtitles. While this is a welcome addition, the success of this feature depends on creators as viewers cannot manually turn on subtitles, at least in the current deployment phase.

Instagram is currently rolling out subtitle stickers in some countries, with plans to expand to more regions soon.
