Dreaming of exploring the Land of the Morning Calm just got closer with South Korea's latest visa policy update.
Starting from 1/10/2019 to 31/12/2019, citizens from Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam, will be exempted from visa fees when applying for short-term visas to South Korea. This is a generous decision by the South Korean government ahead of the 30th ASEAN Summit, scheduled to take place in Busan from 25/11/2019 to 26/11/2019.
The visa fee waiver policy applies only to short-term tourist visas (C-3) and does not apply to other types of visas, such as marriage visas (F-6), student visas (D4-D2), or short-term work visas (C-4).
So What is a C3 Visa?
A C3 visa is a short-term visa valid for 3 months from the date of issuance. This type of visa is suitable for individuals who plan to stay in South Korea for a short period, and it can be used for various purposes such as tourism, medical treatment, visiting relatives, attending festivals, or engaging in cultural, sports, or scientific research activities.
(*) Note: Despite the visa fee waiver, applicants still need to pay a 390,000 VND fee to the Korea Visa Application Center (KVAC). The visa processing fee for South Korea is around 20 USD per application.
