Oda clarified misconceptions about the Navy's SWORD unit in SBS episode 107. Contrary to popular belief, all SWORD members still belong to the Navy. They may even be promoted, but resignation requests are not immediately accepted.
Oda also revealed the story of Ensign Hibari and her affection for Captain Koby stemming from a past heroic act, when he rescued a bear she cherished despite great danger. The bear, now named Koby-Senpai, serves as a reminder of this courageous deed.
Prince Grus is also mentioned. Described as a clumsy young man with a special bond with his mother, evidenced by her giving him a long hat to prevent him from getting hurt.
Kujaku - one of SWORD's strongest members stands out with the sword named Beethoven. This powerful weapon can perfectly complement Kujaku's devil fruit ability.
Oda's Artistic Inspirations
Oda also reveals some inspirations behind his characters. Pythagoras, one of Vegapunk's satellites, originated from a Japanese TV show called Ganbare RoboCon. The character Jiron in Revolutionary Army is influenced by Jiron Amos in Combat Mecha Xabungle.
Luffy's Hidden Dream
Luffy's dream is also brought up for discussion. Specifically, whether Caribou, the stowaway on the Straw Hat Pirates' ship, knows about this dream or not. Oda clarifies that Caribou still knows nothing about that dream. Currently, only members of the Straw Hat Pirates, Sabo, Shanks, Rayleigh, and Yamato know Luffy's ultimate goal.
