This tutorial elucidates the process of running a PHP script in a web browser through MAMP, a freely available local server. Unlike traditional HTML files, PHP scripts necessitate a server like MAMP to interpret them correctly within a browser environment.
Necessary Steps
Select the appropriate download link for your operating system. For Windows users, execute the downloaded file and follow the installation prompts. Mac users should execute the downloaded file and then move the MAMP file to their Applications folder.
Launch MAMP.
Access the Preferences by clicking the gear icon.
Ensure that default settings are correct by navigating through the tabs.
Set the directory containing your PHP files.
Click OK to save changes.
Commence Server Operations.
Access your preferred web browser.
Direct your browser to 'localhost:8888' in the address bar. Type this address and hit Enter or Return.
