Answer: a) (3 + 5) x 4 = 8 x 4 = 32 3 x 4 + 4 x 5 = 12 + 20 = 32 Both expressions have the same value, hence (3 + 5) x 4 = 3 x 4 + 4 x 5. When multiplying a sum by a number, each term of the sum can be multiplied by that number, then the results are added together.
