Exodus promises an epic RPG narrative spanning centuries, filling the void left by Mass Effect

As we already know, Exodus is a creation of Archetype Entertainment studio, a newly established unit comprising individuals who have previously contributed to major games like Baldur’s Gate, KOTOR, Jade Empire… The game itself is anticipated to share similarities with Mass Effect, setting the stage for space exploration and role-playing.

Another intriguing aspect is that Mass Effect operates on the principle of mass effect (hence its name), a fictional physics concept in the gaming world facilitating space traversal. In Exodus, a cosmic physics phenomenon known as Time Dilation is employed, elucidating the time warp during space travel.

The storyline of the Exodus introduction trailer hinted at this phenomenon as the two main characters separated, and the male protagonist piloted the ship into a jump gate, entering a different timeline. This time effect resembles that of Interstellar, where each individual is influenced by their own timeline.

According to James Ohlen, the leader of Archetype Entertainment, in the initial documentary video about the game-making process: “Time dilation and its impact on your decisions are the core essence of this game. That's the most crucial aspect of Exodus. You can make significant decisions and witness the outcomes of those decisions over years, decades, or even centuries afterward.”

In addition, the documentary video also unveils the team's approach, incorporating elements such as third-person shooter perspective, inspiration drawn from the fantasy realm, emotional connections with extraterrestrial races… Exodus has yet to announce an official release date, but it will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC upon launch.
