1. Experience of Oppo F5 battery life: Significantly improved compared to the previous generation.
Oppo F5 is the latest smartphone from the Chinese phone manufacturer Oppo, now available in the Vietnamese market. It's a redesigned product with slim bezels, an 18:9 aspect ratio screen, and some changes in the camera department compared to its predecessor.
The Oppo F5 hit the shelves on November 11th with a price tag of 6.99 million Vietnamese dong, available in gold and black. The highlight of this product is its 6-inch screen with slim bezels and an 18:9 aspect ratio, along with a 20MP front camera integrated with artificial intelligence technology to enhance selfie photos. Other specifications include a Helio P23 octa-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a 16MP rear camera, support for dual LTE 4G SIMs, and pre-installed Color OS 3.2 based on Android 7.1.1.
The Oppo F5's battery has a capacity of 3,200mAh and comes with a 5V/2A charging adapter.
The real-world battery usage test results of Oppo F5 by VnReview's familiar tests show significant improvement compared to its predecessor Oppo F3, despite both phones having equivalent battery capacity and screen resolution (Full-HD). The improvement ranges from 15-25% depending on the activity, with web browsing time seeing the most significant increase. This makes the Oppo F5 a smartphone with good battery life in the mid-range segment.

The main factor contributing to the improved battery life of Oppo F5 likely comes from the processor. The Oppo F5 is equipped with the Helio P23 processor featuring eight Cortex A53 cores (4 high-speed cores at 2.3GHz and 4 low-speed cores at 1.65GHz) along with a G71MP2 GPU based on a 16nm manufacturing process, which is more power-efficient than the 28nm process of the MediaTek MT6750T octa-core processor in the Oppo F3. Additionally, software updates on the Oppo F5 (Color OS 3.2 based on Android 7.1.1) could also contribute to the improvement in battery life.
Previously, the Sony Xperia XA1 with the Helio P20 processor (16nm process) also saw similar improvements in battery life compared to its predecessor Xperia XA using the Helio P10 chip (28nm process), despite having only a 2,300mAh battery capacity.
In standby mode, the Oppo F5 consumes about 3% of battery over 6 hours overnight with Wi-Fi on to receive notifications from Facebook, Messenger, Gmail, etc. This is an average battery consumption rate compared to other products in the same price range.
Regarding charging time, the included 5V/2A charger takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes to fully charge the 3,200mAh battery of the Oppo F5, with approximately 65% charged in the first hour.
Based on these results, it can be said that the Oppo F5 performs quite well in terms of battery life. Regular users can confidently use the device throughout the day without worrying about running out of battery halfway. However, for those who frequently play games or use continuous 4G connectivity, carrying an additional power bank is still necessary.
