According to experts, Phan Thiet is an ideal place for hot air balloon flights. 'Known as the paradise of surfers, surprisingly, the morning winds here are very calm, making hot air balloon flights quite safe,' said Arturas, a balloon pilot. From the balloon, tourists can admire the desert, lakes, rivers, fields, villages, the sea, forests, to crowded urban areas in an hour of flight.
There are two types of balloons, 6 or 8 people, depending on the wind direction. Balloons can take off from either of two points, early in the morning. The first point departs from Nguyen Tat Thanh Square; the balloon will reach a height of 300 – 500 m to enjoy the panoramic view of the city at sunrise, then fly along the coast to catch the sunrise over the sea and admire returning fishing boats.
The second starting point begins at the Hoa Thang gas station in Hong Lam commune. The hot air balloon will fly over Bau Ong Lake, Bau Ba, gently skim the sand dunes at Bau Trang, and finally land at White Sand Dunes.
The journey will last for 45 minutes of free-flying in the sky and land at 7 AM. After landing, the traditional ceremony for first-time hot air balloon flyers will begin. The total estimated time for the entire flight is 3 to 4 hours.
