After the recent upgrade, the train journey from Saigon to Phan Thiet now takes only 4 hours and is equipped with amenities like Wifi, TV, and clean restrooms.
Previously, mentioning traveling to Phan Thiet made many shake their heads in reluctance. The distance from Saigon to Phan Thiet is over 200 kilometers, quite far. If you go by car, it takes nearly 6 hours. The train, seemingly, has never been the perfect choice due to concerns about hygiene, facilities, and service quality.
However, these issues are no longer a concern for travelers who want to visit Phan Thiet.
Responding to market demand, the Vietnam Railways Corporation has upgraded some train cars with soft seats, air conditioning, TV, power outlets, wifi, and especially clean restrooms with spacious handwashing basins. In addition, the train journey time has been reduced to only 4 hours instead of the previous 5 – 6 hours; additional evening train services have been introduced; and a railway ticket delivery service has been added to the ticketing system, helping passengers save time queuing to buy train tickets at the station.
