Located at 289 Hai Ba Trung, District 3, Tân Định church attracts tourists with its mesmerizing architecture featuring graceful arches and notably its vibrant pink color that catches the eye at first glance.

Tân Định church, officially known as the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, belongs to Tân Định parish, along with Notre-Dame Cathedral, are the two earliest churches built in Saigon.


The church was commenced in 1870 and was inaugurated on December 16, 1876. Overall, it features Gothic architecture, with decorative details reflecting a hint of Roman and Baroque influences.


The most prominent highlight of the church is its entire structure being painted in pink, standing out against the blue sky, creating a captivating, dazzling, and fresh beauty.




From the front of the church, visitors can see the main tower and two side towers. At the top of the tower is an octagonal spire with a 3-meter-tall copper cross. Inside, there are five bells, with a total weight of 5.5 tons. The two side towers feature lantern towers, numerous rose windows with graceful patterns creating a sturdy yet charming appearance.



The interior of the cathedral is quite imposing with two rows of Gothic columns leading to the main altar made of Italian marble, adding much beauty to the architectural structure. Although Tân Định church has undergone several renovations and expansions, it still retains its original architectural features.
