I was pleasantly surprised to learn about Comandante's latest addition to their coffee grinder lineup. The new Trailmaster is a game-changer, offering waterproof and shockproof capabilities, perfect for travelers and outdoor enthusiasts who crave the best coffee wherever they go.Check out the video showcasing the Comandante X25 Trailmaster:When you hear the name Trailmaster, you know this line is definitely for outdoor enthusiasts. Its features make it perfect for travel and outdoor activities:- Made of durable QTP polymer material.
- Lighter than the Comandante C40.
- Shockproof and waterproof.
Price reference: $6,090- Manufactured in Germany.
Comandante X25 is still packaged in recycled paper boxes similar to the C40. The box is slightly smaller than the C40 box.
Inside the grinder box, you'll also find some items like stickers, a felt mat, user manual, etc.
The prominent Comandante logo on the body serves as a grip point for better handling during grinding.
Just a glance at the logo and you can already taste the delicious coffee.
The jar for ground coffee uses a large thread, currently without a lid. The X25 package also does not include an additional jar like when you purchase the C40.
The crank handle remains steel-made, while the knob is crafted from oak wood. This handle is fully compatible with the C40 grinder, meaning they can be interchanged effortlessly.
The Comandante X25 features a waterproof lid. When this lid is closed, the grinder can be submerged in water. Feel free to wash it thoroughly.
However, when the crank handle is attached, there is no longer waterproofing. Take note of this when using it.
The grinding burr of the Comandante X25 is also the Nitro steel burr, identical to the one on the C40. You can interchange this burr between the X25 and C40 grinders. You can also use the RedClix set with this grinder.
Because they share the same burr and click mechanism, you can continue using the same settings on the X25 as you do on the C40, without needing to adjust. Whatever click setting you had on the old grinder, you can use it on the new one.
The hopper collar is slightly deeper, so adjusting the clicks will require reaching slightly deeper into the grinder compared to the C40. However, I don't think it's an issue for Vietnamese users. It might be a concern for those with larger hands.

This grinder is currently only available in a sandy yellow color, but in the future, two more colors will be released: black and green.
Quick impressions of the Comandante X25:- Having been accustomed to the steel-bodied C40, initially, I thought wielding the X25 with its Polymer body would feel flimsy. However, the X25's construction is still robust, and it feels great in the hand.
- The geometric patterns on the grinder make it visually appealing, almost like a 3D puzzle.
- Regarding the grinding sound: The X25 produces a louder, coarser grind compared to the C40, which is understandable due to the different QTP polymer material versus steel.
- The X25's body is slimmer, making it slightly more comfortable to hold than the C40.
- As for the quality of the grind, there's no discernible difference compared to the C40. It remains one of the best manual grinders on the market.
- Grinding coffee with the Comandante grinder enhances the aroma, making it more pronounced. Once you've tried coffee ground with the Comandante, it's hard to forget.
