Known as the “Addiction Aquatic Development”
I visited Taipei Fish Market early in the morning at 7 a.m. while it was raining heavily.
Exploring Addiction Aquatic Development:
Addiction Aquatic Development was established to entice people back to the traditional Taipei Fish Market.
In this way, consumers or business buyers can purchase delicious seafood products at great value. By combining a supermarket and restaurant, it aims to become a creative space where consumers can eat, shop, and enjoy integrated with a wonderful lifestyle. The seafood here is freshly supplied every day, so its freshness is beyond doubt.

Taipei Fish Market

Taipei Fish Market attracts a large number of visitors for sightseeing and shopping post-Covid.
The origin of seafood at Taipei Fish Market
Fish and seafood at Taipei Fish Market are caught and transported directly from Fuke Fishing Port, about 100km north of downtown Taipei. Traders will import goods at Fuke and transport them to Taipei Fish Market to resell to smaller traders or retail to tourists at fish counters. Transactions at Taipei Fish Market usually take place from early morning around 2:00 AM to 6:00 AM, with a bustling scene.

Important Notes for Entering Addiction Aquatic Development Area

Guests must wait for their turn to be seated
When purchasing food at Taipei Fish Market and wanting to eat on the spot, be prepared to stand, as only upscale restaurants offer seating. You'll also need to wait in line to reach the food counters. The restaurants here are elegantly arranged, providing a cozy atmosphere and, of course, fantastic photo opportunities for diners.

Be prepared to stand when buying food to eat immediately
If visiting on weekends, expect crowds and be prepared to squeeze in a bit. The self-service food section tends to attract more customers due to its diverse pre-prepared meals. Families with children will find plenty of meal options at reasonable prices in this area.

It gets quite crowded on weekends
Morning scene of Taipei Fish Market
It's about a 20-minute walk from the subway station to the fish market. You won't need to ask locals for directions as signs lead you there. Arriving near the market, especially in the early morning, you'll easily spot wholesalers buying seafood at the fish counters and loading them onto trucks to transport to their stores or market areas. The bargaining sounds of the elder vendors remind me of the early morning flower market with my mom.

Fresh seafood is transported from Phuket Port, packed in styrofoam boxes and ice. Then sold to traders and store owners at Taipei Fish Market such as Lobster, Shrimp, King Crab, Squid... when you visit these stalls, you'll be amazed by the freshness of the seafood here. The seafood is mostly cleaned and arranged neatly on trays for easy selection by customers.

The bustling scene of locals and tourists buying fish and seafood makes the market area lively, especially in the early morning. This scene happens every day of the week, except during traditional holidays when vendors may close for 1 or 2 days. Each type of seafood is packed in styrofoam boxes and filled with water to maintain freshness.

Fish, shellfish, squid, lobster, and other seafood are displayed at the traditional market
Various types of fish are pre-prepared, cleaned, and packed with ice to ensure freshness and conveniently priced for both sellers and buyers. Besides seafood and fish stalls, various types of meat are also sold at this market for people to easily purchase according to their preferences. Motorcycles are allowed to move within the market area, as most Taipei residents travel around the city on 50cc cute-looking scooters.

Small king crabs, abalones, lobsters are also sold at traditional market stalls, and of course, they are still alive and extremely fresh. These traditional fish market stalls may look old and damp, but when buying seafood here, you can definitely negotiate because the sellers are very friendly and adorable. When visiting this market area, it's advisable to wear neat clothes and waterproof shoes to avoid getting dirty.

Follow the hallway to reach the entrance, but before entering, you'll be sprayed with hand sanitizer by the guard. What's even more surprising is that this market has powerful air conditioning running smoothly, making it as clean as a high-end restaurant. There are carts available outside for people to use for shopping inside the supermarket after their hands are sanitized. Inside the market is divided into 10 main sections

You'll be amazed by the variety of pre-prepared seafood, with prices listed for each type to make it easy for you to choose your favorite dishes: Steamed lobster, Steamed king crab, salmon, various sushi, salmon sashimi... But the most enticing are the pre-prepared King Crabs, with average prices ranging from 2,500TWD to 5,000TWD, equivalent to 1,900,000VND to 3,800,000VND. You can also buy King Crabs packaged in trays with listed prices, making it more affordable for many people.

Just looking at this King Crab makes you want to eat it right away
There are various price ranges, but generally, the prices are still cheaper compared to supermarkets in Vietnam, so we bought a lot to enjoy. Note: The seafood bought in this area is meant to be eaten cold, not reheated like at home, because people in Taipei eat seafood cold. Each tray of food is carefully packaged, but you'll need to buy dipping sauce separately. This area is like a supermarket, you choose your products, then go to the counter to pay and eat outside. Each slice of salmon at the counter looks really appetizing.
