Explore the Golden Buddha Temple in Bangkok, the site of a ceremony for Leicester's victory
Many might wonder what makes Wat Traimit so special. Let's delve into this renowned temple located in the heart of Bangkok with Mytour!
Also known as the Golden Buddha Temple, Wat Traimit is a famous sanctuary in the capital city of Bangkok, celebrated for its unique beauty, historical significance, and a massive solid gold Buddha statue.

The Golden Buddha Temple was constructed during the Sukhothai era (13th-15th century), a prosperous period in Thai Buddhism. When the Burmese invaded the capital, the statue was cleverly covered in concrete to avoid damage, a secret so well-kept that those involved were all killed upon completion.
In the 1950s, while relocating to a new temple in Bangkok, the statue slipped from the crane, falling into a mud pit. Surprisingly, no one bothered to lift the statue. Local residents share a story of a monk who, guided by a dream from Buddha, sought and successfully raised the statue. Through a crack, the monk witnessed a gleaming golden light, and the Golden Buddha was 'reborn.' Since then, the golden statue has become an unmissable destination in every tourist's Bangkok itinerary.
