Parents often desire their children to learn the piano to nurture a unique talent. However, not every child grasps and perseveres with this musical instrument equally. Many parents face numerous challenges and uncertainties: Is my child too young to embark on this new language? Do I possess sufficient resources to ensure my child excels in piano? Recently, I experimented with a program that incorporates technology in teaching piano, aiding children as young as 4 years old to efficiently learn piano without the necessity of inherent talent.
The sounds emanating from a piano are likely familiar to most. Those who have endeavored to learn this musical instrument can surely relate to the difficulties involved. Some individuals abandon their pursuits due to lack of time for piano classes, while others struggle to find suitable learning methods or sustain daily practice motivation. The program I recently experienced integrates technology into piano instruction, enabling even 4-year-old children to learn effectively, irrespective of natural aptitude.
Unlock the benefits of The One smart piano class:
Innovative learning approach: one teacher in class and a virtual assistant in the app directly connected to the piano.
Sensor technology and accurate guidance display (2 teachers 1 student method):
- Knowing whether the student plays the piano correctly or incorrectly, down to the detail where teachers find it hard to critique: hitting the right notes, playing with correct timing, and maintaining the right rhythm. All of these are measured using a numerical system, aiding teachers in identifying the specific strengths and weaknesses of each student for better support.
Clear learning trajectory (Learn 1 piece per session)
- A structured path of 100 pieces divided into 3 stages, with difficulty levels increasing progressively. So, after each lesson, the child can play a complete piece independently. Stage 1 spans the first year, helping children overcome initial hesitations and the tendency to give up easily when learning the piano. By completing the first year, children develop a momentum to continue nurturing their love for music in general and piano in particular with stages 2 and 3 of the program. Only attending class once a week, children can mainly self-study at home, balancing learning and play while ensuring effectiveness through the combination of the smart piano and the curriculum. Parents save time by not having to commute multiple times a week and also save on expenses compared to traditional lessons. With this approach, children can complete the 100 pieces across 3 stages in just 3-4 years, equivalent to international music certifications grade 2 – 3.
