When visiting Japan during spring or autumn, don't miss out on this famous Shurakuen Buddha statue destination.
Experience the majestic Shurakuen Buddha statue in Japan
Located within Shurakuen Park in the city of Tokai, the 18.8-meter-tall Buddha statue is one of Japan's famous tourist attractions, larger than the Buddha statues in Nara and Kamakura.

The Buddha statue was built in 1923 by a merchant and has been painted in bronze color since 1985. Perched on a hill, the statue offers panoramic views of steel mills and the industrial cityscape of Tokai. Along the pathway into the park, you'll see two guardian deities flanking the staircase, extending high and wide.

Each season, the Shurakuen Park Buddha statue exhibits its own unique beauty. From Meitetsu Jurakuen Station, you'll catch a glimpse of the Great Buddha rising above a canopy of trees. In autumn, the park's scenery is adorned with red foliage; in spring, cherry blossoms bloom vibrantly; and in summer, the park is lush and serene.

Aside from the Great Buddha statue, Shurakuen Park is also a fantastic destination for your family's weekend fun with its cool green lawns and highly enticing children's play area in Japan.
