Inspired by an article on Tuổi Trẻ – Tây Nguyên travel page about the autumn foliage, I decided to explore the Tây Nguyên region and encountered two contrasting color palettes at a waterfall.

On the early morning of the first day of Tet, the area around Draysap waterfall was tranquil, almost devoid of any human presence.
During the dry season, water cascaded from above into the valley, not vigorously enough to create water dust clouds but sufficient to form a crystal-clear lake, reflecting the images of sky clouds, leaves, and trees.
In this dry season, the ancient trees shed their leaves, extending their gnarled branches towards the sky, while the skies of Tây Nguyên remained lush green. However, thanks to the water, nestled among the leafless trunks, some trees still retained vibrant green leaves.
In stark contrast, lush green patches of some ancient trees and low-lying foliage created a diverse palette of leafy colors.
Draysap is located on the flow of the Sêrêpốk River, in Nam Hà commune, Krông K’nô district, Đắk Nông province, approximately 30km south of Buôn Ma Thuột city.
According to the Êđê ethnic language, Draysap means the waterfall of smoke (dray is waterfall, sap is smoke) as the majestic water cascades from above into the valley, creating a large misty water dust cloud.
However, Draysap is also known as the Husband Waterfall, not far from there is Draynur (Wife Waterfall) in Đắk Lắk province.
For a long time, the waterfall cluster of Draysap – Gia Long – Trinh Nữ, spanning the districts of Cư Jút and Krông Nô, covering an area of about 1,655 hectares, has become a tourist attraction in Đắk Nông.
However, when brought into tourism exploitation, the Draysap – Gia Long – Trinh Nữ waterfall cluster gradually lost its original picturesque and pristine beauty. After each festival flooding with tourists, the surroundings of the waterfall were filled with litter.
Fortunately, during our visit, the waterfall area had been thoroughly cleaned. On the first day of the year, the waterfall was exceptionally deserted, allowing a leisurely traveler like me to fully enjoy the beauty of a waterfall dyed with the hues of emotions, reminiscent of a legend about a beautiful love story between a couple separated by a vast flowing river.
