Lenovo introduces the ThinkPad Z13, the first ThinkPad model equipped with AMD Ryzen 6000 processor. ThinkPad Z13 will compete with Intel-powered ThinkPad X1 series since 2011.
The new ThinkPad Z series is a collaboration between Lenovo and AMD, exclusively featuring AMD processors without Intel configurations. Meanwhile, Intel continues its partnership with Lenovo on the ThinkPad X1 Nano lineup.
Lenovo ThinkPad Z13 is a compact laptop with a different design from the X1 series. The company aims to attract new users to the ThinkPad line with modified keyboard layout, different materials for the chassis, and a new tactile touchpad design. The touchpad is designed without dedicated buttons for the ThinkPad TrackPoint.
The ThinkPad Z13 is equipped with AMD Ryzen 6000 CPUs. The base model will feature the Ryzen 5 Pro 6650U with slightly higher performance scores (based on benchmark scores) compared to the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 10. The ThinkPad Z13 also outperforms the MacBook Air M2 but falls short of the Dell XPS 13 Plus.
The ThinkPad Z13 shows promising benchmark results, with further laptop tests to be updated once the device hits the shelves officially. Lenovo has yet to provide detailed specifications and release timing for the new ThinkPad Z series.
