The name Cồn Phụng originated when Mr. Nguyễn Thành Nam came here to build the Nam Quốc Phật Pagoda in the early 20th century. While constructing this work, the workers discovered an ancient cup with the image of a Phoenix, so they named it Cồn Phụng.
