The Thần Công Shooting Ritual is a distinctive feature of Vũng Tàu festivals, symbolizing the resilience and growth of the local culture. Despite its recent inception, this ritual is gradually shaping the tourism culture of Vũng Tàu. Let's delve into what makes this ritual special!

Exploring the Fascinating Thần Công Shooting Ritual
Major events like Tet celebrations often feature fireworks displays in Vũng Tàu. However, in recent years, this coastal tourist city has added an extra touch by commencing festivities with the Thần Công shooting ritual.
Preparations for the Spectacular Thần Công Shooting Ritual
The Thần Công guns are locally crafted with approval from provincial authorities and regulatory bodies. These unique tourism assets consist of 3 Thần Công guns, each weighing around 2.5 tons (including the gun carriage), with a shooting range of 2 to 4 km. They are named after historical landmarks: Minh Đạm, Phước Thắng, and Trấn Biên. The guns are modeled after Nguyen dynasty prototypes, adorned with distinctive patterns, and serve various functions such as shooting paper flowers and firing iron-headed bullets to simulate sieges.

The next Thần Công shooting event took place in 2012, precisely during the Lunar New Year from the 1st to the 10th day. It kicked off with the Corporate Groundbreaking Ceremony at the beginning of the year, featuring ritualistic practices such as offering incense, drumming to welcome the spring, presenting flowers to foreign guests, and picking the first lucky buds of the year... Following that, 6 shots were fired resoundingly into the sky, marking the beginning of a new year, hoping for prosperity and development.
Performing the Thần Công Shooting Ritual
On the evening of the 5th day of the Lunar New Year, Vũng Tàu organized the Cultural Tourism Program of Tân Thành District, during which 9 Thần Công shots were alternately fired between artistic performances. The rituals in Vũng Tàu festivals have attracted the attendance of hundreds of thousands. Those selected to shoot during the festival are young soldiers, known for their talent, virtue, and health. Before the festival, everyone undergoes rigorous training in the rituals to ensure solemnity and meticulousness.

Furthermore, the Thần Công shooting also takes place on April 30th and May 1st every year. It goes beyond conventional shooting by incorporating advanced techniques to create additional types of guns, aiming to bring surprises to the local people and tourists.

If you have the opportunity to explore tourist attractions in Vũng Tàu during festive days, you should take the time to witness this solemn ritual. Although Thần Công shooting is a relatively new tradition in Vũng Tàu festivals, it holds significant influence, gradually becoming a hallmark of the coastal city.
