ZTE's sub-brand, recently introduced the all-new Red Magic 8S Pro series. This is the successor to the Red Magic 8 Pro model launched six months ago and has achieved considerable success among mobile gamers. In this 8S generation, nubia continues to deliver a powerful gaming smartphone, with an attractive design, many features supporting gamers, and notably, a price tag even cheaper than a $14 device.

Essentially, the Red Magic 8S Pro series will be a slight upgrade from the 8 Pro series, so nubia focuses on upgrading performance primarily, while other factors such as appearance, camera, display, or battery life are inherited.
The version featured in this article is the Red Magic 8S Pro+, the highest-end option. However, this isn't the highest memory option nubia offers to users, as there's a version with up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, meaning it even has more than one and a half times the RAM compared to most currently available on the market.

Taking a glance, we can see that the Red Magic 8S Pro+ still inherits the distinctive design language of recent nubia devices, similar to the previous nubia Z50. ZTE equips these models with a sleek square design reminiscent of the iPhone, along with a glass back and metal frame with chamfered edges, providing a more comfortable grip.

Being a gaming phone, the Red Magic 8S Pro+ boasts several highlights on its back, including a translucent design, nubia logo, Red Magic logo, and rugged gaming details. Additionally, users can admire the RGB cooling fan that lights up during gaming sessions.

The back also features a triple main camera system with very basic specs: a 50MP wide-angle camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle, and a 2MP macro lens. The camera quality is relatively decent, although this is a smartphone focused on gaming performance, not a flagship model like other high-end smartphones on the market.

As mentioned, the frame of the Red Magic 8S Pro+ is designed square but still slightly rounded for a more comfortable grip, especially during long gaming sessions. This is also where the physical buttons, connectivity ports, and touch-sensitive trigger buttons are placed on the sides. The device also has a dedicated red game mode activation button.

Moving to the front, nubia equips the Red Magic 8S Pro+ with a 6.8-inch display using a 10-bit AMOLED panel, with a resolution of 1116 x 2480, slightly higher than FHD+. This display has a 120Hz refresh rate, a maximum brightness of 1300 nits, is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, and integrates an optical under-display fingerprint sensor.

The most distinctive feature of this display that users can notice is its perfect display quality. Indeed, from previous generations of Red Magic, nubia has always provided a flawless display for the device. To achieve this, nubia applies a new-generation under-display selfie camera, allowing the complete concealment of the selfie camera lens while still maintaining good quality. In fact, the current under-display selfie camera technology is not widely adopted by many phone manufacturers due to practicality and quality concerns. The latest smartphone to implement this technology is none other than the Galaxy Z Fold5.

Thanks to advanced technology, the area containing the selfie camera has a high pixel density almost equivalent to other parts of the screen, thereby preserving display quality. Additionally, ZTE also applies algorithms and AI to improve image quality, as without them, captured images would be blurry, fuzzy, and quite unattractive.

In terms of performance, the Red Magic 8S Pro+ is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 overclocked version. According to many reviews, this overclocked version offers performance comparable to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip found in flagship devices. As mentioned, ZTE also offers an option with 24GB RAM and 1TB storage. This makes it the only smartphone on the market with such high RAM capacity.

Furthermore, to support gaming processes, the Red Magic 8S Pro+ is equipped with a 20,000 RPM cooling fan, along with a large-volume VC heat dissipation system, allowing optimal heat dissipation and maintaining high performance over extended periods.

The Red Magic 8S Pro+ boasts a 5000mAh battery, supporting 165W fast charging technology with an included charger. The device runs on Android 13 with the Redmagic OS 8 interface.

Regarding pricing, in the Vietnamese market, the Red Magic 8S Pro+ is being sold by some retailers starting from 18.5 million VND. This is a relatively attractive price for a gaming smartphone with a beautiful design, equipped with numerous technologies, and offering such powerful performance.
