Fish salad is a signature dish of Tan Mai Ward in Bien Hoa, so if you ever visit the area, be sure to give it a try.



There are many fish salad restaurants in Tan Mai area, but I was recommended to try Kim Yen restaurant.
At Kim Yen, the fish salad is made with fresh fish daily. To ensure its deliciousness, they use fresh fish every day, slicing each fillet into thin, bite-sized pieces.



After being sliced, the fish is mixed with lemongrass, finely crushed galangal, and roasted rice powder. The spicy and hot seasoning will lightly cook the fish, giving it the distinctive aroma of this dish.



The fish salad is priced at 150k per portion. Despite being called fish salad, it is served with dipping sauce. Each serving of fish salad includes a plate of fish accompanied by a pot of sauce simmered on the stove.
The most unique aspect is the sauce, made from fermented rice, lemongrass, fish liver, and meat. Each restaurant has its own flavor, so you can choose one that matches your taste preferences.




The eating method involves dipping a few pieces of fish into the simmering sauce for a few seconds until the fish is lightly cooked but still tender. Avoid overcooking the fish, as it will lose its crispiness.
The fish will be wrapped in a variety of herbs, from aromatic ones to forest herbs, creating a rich and fragrant aroma. Dip the fish in the slightly tangy sauce made from fish liver fat for a unique and delicious flavor.



The restaurant offers a wide range of dishes made from fish and various meats. I opted for a large pot of fish porridge to feel satisfied and warm. The fish porridge costs 100k per pot.


The porridge is meticulously prepared, with fish and fish eggs. It contains plenty of fresh fish meat and is seasoned just right.
If you happen to visit Bien Hoa, make sure to try the Fish Salad dish. The restaurant is spacious, airy, and has ample parking space for cars.
