Services in Con Dao are still underdeveloped, and goods are mostly transported from the mainland, resulting in high prices. Travelers need to prepare in advance, not to be caught without supplies. There are many mosquitoes in the evening in Con Dao, so you should bring mosquito repellent and insect repellent.
Travelers who self-drive on the island need to remember to fill up gas beforehand as there are very few gas stations. From September to March, Con Dao experiences rough seas, so travel time by boat can sometimes be three to four times longer (about 4 hours).
