Pirate Gun is highly favored in LOL, yet this equipment comes with several drawbacks.
Since its introduction to the League of Legends store, Pirate Gun has been a popular choice. With its opponent-eliminating effect and bonus gold, many players tend to buy Pirate Gun to try turning the tide of the match.
Despite its immense power, Pirate Gun still has many disadvantages. Some Challenge Mode players even advise against buying this equipment when losing the lane. Purchasing Pirate Gun in tough situations only weakens the Marksman further.
Fundamentally, Pirate Gun has an opponent-eliminating effect when the target receives damage at 5% health. Before bringing the target down to that threshold, Pirate Gun does not provide any effects other than additional stats.
When losing the lane, Marksman players have lower damage output than opponents due to fewer levels and equipment. If deliberately purchasing Pirate Gun, players almost have no chance to activate the aforementioned eliminating effect. At that point, the greatest value of Pirate Gun disappears, and players find it challenging to win the match under heavy pressure.
In summary, being a snowballing item, Pirate Gun should only be purchased when players have a significant advantage. Players should not waste their money on Pirate Gun when falling behind in lane or when they feel they don't have too much advantage over the opponents.
