I borrowed an iPhone 14 Pro for the US market (model LL/A) to test using Vietnamese network eSIM. In reality, anyone purchasing an iPhone 14 or any iPhone from the US market without carrier lock can easily use both physical SIMs and eSIMs.When activating the device, users will need Wi-Fi to complete a few steps such as setting up FaceID, logging into Wi-Fi. Then, the 'Set up mobile plan' section will appear. At this point, users will need a QR code from the carrier that has switched to eSIM.For details on how to switch eSIM online from some carriers, you can refer to the information below:
- Viettel: [Link Expander]
- MobiFone: [Link Expander]
- Vinaphone currently does not support remote eSIM transfer, and users still need to visit service counters.- I also attempted to transfer eSIM from an old iPhone to a new one, but it was unsuccessful.
I tried transferring eSIM from an old iPhone to a new one, however, it couldn't be done.
Regarding the operational steps, users will place the old iPhone close to the new iPhone. Then, the old iPhone will be prompted to enter the OTP code displayed on the new device. It seems that mobile carriers in Vietnam do not yet support the eSIM transfer feature from the old iPhone, so I encountered errors during the process.Using 2 online dual eSIMs simultaneously has been supported since the iPhone 13 series, so users can easily utilize them on iPhone 14 models. Therefore, if users want to use an iPhone 14 purchased from the US, the eSIM conversion process will require more manual steps. I believe Vietnamese carriers can fully implement this feature for various iPhone models that need eSIM conversion quickly. However, for now, we still need to manually perform operations through the carrier's management app or visit service counters. Thanks to Apple Care 24H for lending me a US iPhone 14 Pro to test.
