On one occasion, while Au Co was traveling to the land of Lac Viet, she met Lac Long Quan, and due to mutual affection, they became husband and wife. Shortly after, Au Co became pregnant. When it was time to give birth, she laid a hundred eggs, which hatched into a hundred handsome and noble sons; the miraculous thing was that they did not need breast milk but grew rapidly on their own. One day, as Lac Long Quan belonged to the Dragon lineage accustomed to living underwater, it was difficult for him to live long on land, so he took fifty sons to rule under the sea, while Au Co took fifty sons to rule the mountainous region, guarding the directions; when needed, they would help each other. Among the fifty sons who went with Au Co, the eldest son was revered as the king, named Hung Vuong, and Phong Chau was chosen as the capital city. From this legend, the Vietnamese people have always been proud to be the descendants of the Dragon and the Grandchildren of the Fairy.
