'I used to think that Tokyo was like any other developed city I had visited, but finally setting foot in Japan's capital, this city surprised me from one astonishment to another, a strange and interesting city beyond my expectations' (According to blogger Sabrina Iovino)
'Let's explore 8 fascinating and unusual things that blogger Sabrina Iovino discovered while traveling to Tokyo with Mytour!'
1. Too many people and too little space
With over 35 million people living in Tokyo, this could be considered the largest metropolitan area in the world. With such a population, limited living space is understandable. The typical size of a one-bedroom apartment is usually 15 square meters. Hotel rooms here are often very small, resembling matchboxes, if you don't believe it, you can see the pictures.

When I had the opportunity to stroll around near the famous Tsukiji fish market, I saw a strange apartment complex, it looked like a stack of washing machines. Later I discovered that it was the Nakagin Capsule Tower, designed by architect Kisho Kurokawa for residential and office use. Each 'capsule' of the building is about 10 square meters, looking quite interesting. I really like this design, although small, it is designed with many functions.

There's a plethora of amusing signs regulating behavior.
“Welcome to Japan, please respect the rules” – this was a message I read on a signboard at Narita airport. Everywhere you look, there are regulations, Japanese people highly value and adhere to the rules they've set. After checking into a hotel room in Tokyo and taking the elevator to our floor, we were pleasantly surprised to see a signboard inside the elevator, guiding us on how to use it. Most regulation signs in Tokyo come with humorous illustrations.

The youth with unique fashion styles.
Most of these pictures were taken in Harajuku, a vibrant area in Tokyo. Harajuku is dubbed as the fashion capital of the world by young people, renowned for its unique, unconventional fashion styles. If you want to explore teen fashion culture, come here on a Sunday; you'll feel as if you've stepped into an outdoor fashion show, where many young people dress in Gothic, Lolita, cosplayer, Punk styles… A paradise for photographers.

A surprisingly clean city.
The first thing I noticed upon arriving in Tokyo is how unexpectedly clean the city is. Everything here is spotless; in fact, if I dropped food on the ground, I would pick it up and continue eating. Everything is gleaming, looking rather “otherworldly”.

Japanese guys often opt for long hair.
Japanese guys are among the most adorable and eccentric individuals I've ever laid eyes on. They look incredibly impressive with long hair, sporting various colors and styles, making them stand out from most guys I've seen in Asian countries. The images below were randomly captured on the streets of Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Harajuku. Quite intriguing, isn't it?

Tokyo always brings forth many surprises.
Tokyo is truly one of the most captivating cities for me, a place that is incomparable to anywhere else in the world. It's a perfect blend of traditional culture and modernity. If given the chance, I highly recommend scheduling a trip to explore Tokyo. There are plenty of fascinating attractions here, but the simplest thing you can do is take a stroll around or ride a bike. You won't feel lost in this city because most people here can speak English and are willing to help when asked. It's a place that will bring you many sweet surprises.
