This season, Cù Lao Câu enjoys warm sunshine throughout the day, with gentle sea waves that may cause mild seasickness for passengers on the boat journey to the island.
Discovering Cù Lao Câu
Travel blogger Trần Lê Ngọc Thắng recently embarked on a journey to explore Cù Lao Câu, also known as Hòn Cau, a small island in Tuy Phong district (Bình Thuận). Thắng shared that due to limited tourism activities on the island, the landscape remains pristine.
The weather during this season is characterized by warm sunshine all day long. However, it is also a period of gentle sea waves, making passengers prone to seasickness when traveling to the island by boat. From April to August in the lunar calendar, during the calm southern wind season, it is ideal for exploration.

To explore Cù Lao Câu, travelers can opt for a day trip or stay overnight either independently or by purchasing a tour package. Since the island has no residents and lacks services, visitors may even need to bring drinking water from the mainland. Therefore, Ngọc Thắng chose to purchase a convenient all-inclusive day tour.
Embark on a one-day tour to explore the captivating Cù Lao Câu island for 650,000 Vietnamese dong per person, inclusive of round-trip boat service, a seafood lunch, and snorkeling equipment, accompanied by a local guide.

At 7 a.m., guests will be greeted by a guide at Liên Hương port (Tuy Phong district). The boat journey to the island takes approximately 40 – 50 minutes. The guide will lead visitors on a tour around the island to several beautiful spots, such as Fairy Beach, Fairy Well, Ba Hon Cave, Love Cave, Fishnet Beach, the Temple of Nam Hai deity, and Swallow Cave.
Following this, Ngọc Thắng's group will arrive at a spacious 'fairy bathing' beach with shaded areas for a relaxing lunch break. The meal, prepared by the guide, consists of grilled shrimp and fresh fish. Approximately 20 – 30 minutes after lunch, guests will board the boat for snorkeling to admire the coral reefs. The journey concludes as guests return to the mainland at 3 p.m.

From evening until nightfall, Thắng and his friends will take advantage of the opportunity to explore the Tuy Phong wind power plant and the Seven-Colored Rock Beach in Cổ Thạch, before boarding a coach back to Ho Chi Minh City at 8 p.m.
The trip costs approximately 1 million Vietnamese dong, excluding airfare if traveling by air. Visitors are not allowed to litter on the island and must collect their trash to bring back to the mainland.
Travelers can fly to Ho Chi Minh City or Cam Ranh (Khánh Hòa) with airlines such as Bamboo Airways, Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar, and Vietjet, with prices starting from 550,000 Vietnamese dong one way in March and April. Subsequently, coaches connect to Phan Thiết (Bình Thuận) from Ho Chi Minh City with ticket prices around 200,000 Vietnamese dong per trip, or from Cam Ranh with bus tickets starting from 150,000 Vietnamese dong one way. In Bình Thuận, renting a motorbike or taking a taxi is the most convenient mode of transportation.
