During the autumn harvest season, women harvest flax, dry it, and begin the distinctive process of making Mong silk. Creating a piece of Mong silk involves over 40 meticulous handcrafted steps, all done manually following ancient formulas passed down through generations.

After drying, the flax is stripped into numerous small fibers. These fibers are then boiled, steamed, and skillfully connected to avoid any knots. This artistic process showcases the dexterity and precision of the women in Lùng Tám Silk Village. The weaving frame used by Mong women is typically a simple waist loom, with one end supported by a column in the house and the other attached to the weaver's waist belt.

Crafting linen is quite challenging, involving numerous intricate processes, resulting in exceptional products of high quality. Mong girls start spinning and weaving linen from the age of 13, dedicating their entire lives to this craft. For them, linen weaving not only showcases skill and diligence but also serves as a criterion for evaluating the talent and virtue of women.

After the weaving process, the linen fabric undergoes various stages such as bleaching, coloring, and the creation of patterns and designs. Lùng Tám Silk Village employs a unique traditional technique, using beeswax painting on fabric. Young beeswax, yellow in color, is melted with aged black beeswax, the main ingredient for creating patterns on the clothing. During the painting process, artists dip the brush into hot beeswax and skillfully draw intricate lines on the fabric, forming diverse patterns.

These patterns represent the Mong people's perception of the universe and their worldview. In addition to beeswax patterns, Mong women also master the technique of embroidered fabric appliqué. Using multi-colored pieces of fabric, these skilled women cleverly cut out various patterns, then sew and appliqué them onto the fabric.
