Heard rumors about Mishagi's hotpot buffet boasting 50 dishes? Today was my first chance to experience it, and a single bite speaks louder than a hundred stories.
With the chilly rain in Hanoi these days, my family and I decided to warm up with hotpot. Being in Lac Trung, we opted for Mishagi Japanese Hotpot Buffet for its convenience.
Initial Impressions of Mishagi Hotpot
Heard there are over 50 items on the menu, which got me even more excited for the dining experience. For starters, I chose a plate of shrimp-covered maki, Japanese crispy pancakes, shrimp tempura, two bowls of seafood soup, and seaweed salad. The meat selection ranged from those that walk to those that swim: Australian beef, American beef, pork belly, clams, salmon, pork ribs, and beef rolls with enoki mushrooms. Temporarily satisfied, but I couldn't resist ordering more.

After a short wait, the attentive staff at Mishagi Hotpot brought out a complete spread of dishes
The staff here is quick and nimble; as soon as you step out of the car, the security guard guides you enthusiastically. Upon entering, a staff member promptly welcomes and escorts you to a table, presenting the menu for selections. Once everyone decides, another staff member brings the grill and turns on the stove in no time.

After a brief 5-minute wait, the dishes arrived. First up, two steaming bowls of crab soup. The soup, white in color, is generously filled with crab meat. The perfect thickness and the distinct sweetness of crab, not from MSG. It also features sweet, crunchy corn and a fragrant aroma.
Next is the Japanese pancake, pre-cut into small, soft, and fragrant pieces. On top of the pancake are sauce and dried seaweed, along with finely grated, chewy dried fish that adds a delightful crunch. The shrimp-covered maki comes in a set of 6, with bright orange shrimp eggs that make a satisfying 'crunch' sound when eaten. The maki is tightly rolled, with soft and aromatic rice. The filling includes egg, crab stick, cucumber, and carrot, all fresh and crisp.

Next is the golden and crispy seafood tempura. The shrimp inside the tempura shell is quite large and firm, offering a sweet flavor. The shrimp shell and tempura coating are so crispy that I usually dislike peeling shrimp shells, but here I didn't bother. This dish is oil-free and minimally crumbly despite its delightful crispiness.

Seaweed salad is my choice to refresh my palate before indulging in grilled meats. It consists of Chinese cabbage, green seaweed, carrots, purple cabbage, mixed with sesame oil and fragrant mayonnaise sauce; topped with shrimp eggs. A refreshing dish with a variety of green vegetables.

After finishing our meal, the staff promptly brought out various meats. The grilled meat feast began, with the staff grilling and slicing the meat for us. The meat here is not heavily marinated, preserving its original pink color. However, the sauce still penetrates each piece, resulting in deliciously tender meat without any dullness.

Enjoy the variety of meats at your leisure; the staff will promptly bring more. Wrap a piece of grilled meat in fresh green lettuce, add a spicy kimchi slice and a bit of pickled cucumber, then dip it into the fragrant sauce. Oh my, delicious without feeling overwhelmed is the sensation.

In addition to meat, there's a variety of seafood: shrimp, squid, octopus, fish roe, clams, and salmon. Seafood is lightly seasoned, preserving its fresh and sweet taste. I especially enjoy the octopus—crispy and chewy, dipped in a spicy sauce. As for fish, I eat less due to my long-standing preference, but the fish roe is surprisingly delightful.
Conclude the feast with a Thai hotpot, equally abundant

The Thai hotpot broth, with its vibrant orange color, is perfectly seasoned—both spicy and tangy, characteristic of Mishagi Hotpot Restaurant

Plentiful supply of meat; before you finish, the staff brings out more
A tip for you: eat just enough grilled meat to leave room for the hotpot. Don't be like us, sitting and catching our breath for 30 minutes after finishing the hotpot before heading home. For dessert, there's ice cream, watermelon (seasonal), and pandan jelly (similar to bitter melon sweet soup). The ice cream comes in various flavors: strawberry, vanilla, chocolate, and green rice flakes, but I prefer the pandan jelly. However, the pandan jelly here has less coconut milk, not as tasty as in Chợ Gạo.
In summary, I thoroughly enjoyed this meal. Thanks to the pre-booking, I got a 31% discount, reducing the price from 362k to 249k. A satisfying and discounted feast is always worth it. If you're into grilling buffets, it's even cheaper at only 199k.
