Expressing Feelings to Mom in the 49th UPU Edition 2020
1. Letter to Mom in the 49th UPU Edition 2020, Sample #1:
Quang Nam, February 1, 2020
Dear Beloved Mom!
'My mother, shedding tears with me in my sorrows. Tasting bitterness and resentment alongside me. When I laugh, my mother is even happier. Her entire life is devoted to me.'
Every UPU letter, I write about my mother. This year's theme is the same. My mother is always my inspiration, my driving force. In joy and sorrow, I have my mother by my side. I am profoundly happy to have my mother in this world. In my childhood, there are many memorable moments, but what I remember most is my mother's smile.
My mother is always busy, always striving to provide for me, ensuring hearty meals and buying beautiful clothes for festive occasions. The bicycle she bought for me to go to school represents my parents' hard work. Mom! I just want to be with you more, to share stories about school and so much more. Wearing old clothes and riding an old bicycle is enough for me. Your presence is what matters most. Mom always hopes I study diligently, achieve good academic results, and get into the university of my choice. But not everything I want is as complex; sometimes, it's just to make you happy and ease your burdens.
Mom! On those extremely tiring days, let me help you, please! Allow me to share all your daily struggles. I know you don't want me to worry about anything, to focus on my studies. But, Mom, after helping you, I will study and study well! Life is swiftly passing by; it feels like just yesterday when I stood in the alley waiting for you to return from the market, to get a cup of tea or a piece of candy. Now, I am a 16-year-old girl. At 16, everything seems to be changing, and I am gradually growing up.
Life's rush and busyness entangle parents in worries about 'rice, clothing, and money,' causing them to sometimes miss family meals, simple joys, or tiny moments of happiness.
What I desire isn't material abundance; it's having my mother in our family meals. This is the message I want to convey to the grown-ups.
I love you, Mom!
Mom's girl.
2. Letter to UPU 49th Edition 2020 about Mom, Sample #2:
Dear Mom,
Mom, your son is here. The little one who used to be with you every day is now in the 7th grade. Every day, I strive to make you proud, Mom.
Mom, since I was 2 years old, you left me at home with dad and grandma while you went abroad to earn money. People said you earned a lot in Taiwan. You called and said to build a house and buy nice clothes for me.
But now, I'm still in our old house with grandma. You went to Taiwan for 6 years. When I was in the 2nd grade, you came home. I stayed with you for exactly two weeks, and then you packed your bags and went to grandma's house. After that, mom and dad divorced.
During those years, I rarely got to live with you. Occasionally, you would come, buy milk, buy clothes for me, and then quickly leave.
Mom, perhaps you don't know that I wish you could ask about my studies. You could visit my school, ask my teacher, like many other parents who still make time to meet the teacher and inquire about their child's education.
On every parent meeting day, I find myself in tears, Mom. It's quite emotional for a son to cry, but every time there's a meeting, the teacher insists on asking for both mom and dad. Many grandparents attend, and when they speak, mom and dad can't understand, leading to arguments. Other kids jeer, and I feel embarrassed.
In 7 years of school, neither mom nor dad has ever attended a parent meeting. Dad always claims to be busy making money, and mom, when not at work, is away trying to earn. I know, now that you and dad are not together, I don't have the right to demand both of you to attend for me. But, Mom, I wish you could come to a parent meeting for me, just once.
I keep trying every day, and every year, I receive certificates. Grandma says, study well, go to university, so you won't have to work hard like dad. But no matter how good she treats me, it's not the same as having you, Mom.
I've seen on your Facebook, mom, that you have another baby. I envy your two little ones for being with you all day, going out with you. If only I could be with you, it would be so much better. Mom, are you happy? I just hope you understand that you still have a son, living with your mom. Next time you come home, don't buy milk for me because lately, I don't drink it. Dad works far away and doesn't have time to take care of me, and you're not around much either.
Ms. Ha said she'd have a baby for dad next year. I'll have another sibling. But with another sibling, I'm afraid dad won't love me anymore, just like you, Mom.
I only wish to be with you, to experience what life is like beside you. Mom, if possible, in the upcoming parent meeting, please send my little sibling and come for me.
I love you, Mom. My only wish is for you to always be happy and not to forget about me.
I dream of having you by my side during parent meetings, Mom. It's been seven years, and you've never been there. I understand, Mom, life is busy, and you and dad are no longer together. But deep down, I wish for that one moment when you attend a parent meeting for me.
I work hard every day, and every year, I receive commendations. Grandma encourages me to study well and go to university, so I won't have to struggle like dad. However, no matter how caring she is, it doesn't compare to having you, Mom.

I love you, Mom. My only desire is for your eternal happiness, and please don't forget about me, Mom.
