Bạch Dinh (known as Villa Blanche in French) was built by the French in the late 19th century as a resort for the Governor-General of Indochina. Today, it stands as a captivating attraction in Vung Tau.
Experience the allure of Bạch Dinh Villa Blanche – a historic white mansion in Vung Tau

Bạch Dinh is located within the cemetery on the slopes of Mount Lon in Bai Truoc, Vung Tau city. According to historical records, the mountain was formerly the site of the Phuoc Thang fortress of the Nguyen dynasty. After the colonization of Indochina, the French colonists flattened the fortress to construct this residence for the Governor-General.

Bạch Dinh stands at an elevation of 27.7m above sea level. Facing the sea, with its back against the mountain, and overlooking the entire city of Vung Tau, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Mount Lon adorned with the white color of bougainvillea flowers.

Externally, Bạch Dinh is entirely painted in white, with walls adorned with blue tiles depicting the gods of Greek mythology. The mansion features numerous windows, a characteristic of French architecture. During the summer, opening all the windows allows for a refreshing breeze within the rooms.

Built with a robust European architecture, Bạch Dinh, despite being over a century old, still retains its original charm. The white facade, red tiles, and decorative patterns in enamel highlight the elegance and allure of the building.

Alongside decorative motifs such as koi transforming into dragons, sunflowers, and chrysanthemums, the exterior of the building is adorned with 8 half-body statues in the style of ancient Greek art, surrounding the three main walls. The statues, crafted from colored enamel, exhibit sophistication and liveliness in their expressions.

In 1907, Bạch Dinh served as the confinement site for King Thành Thái due to his progressive ideas for the nation and resistance against the French. Additionally, Bạch Dinh welcomed King Bảo Đại and high-ranking officials of the Republic of Vietnam government.

In 1992, Bạch Dinh was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic. Today, the site is utilized as a museum, showcasing topics such as Khang Hy ceramics, divine crossbows, and numerous artifacts unearthed through various excavations.
