With the Co-op feature of Wasteland 3, you can collaborate with another player to strategize battles, make decisions regarding the management of gangs, factions, and cults in Colorado, as well as how to divide their spoils of war. Additionally, there are unique moments in the game that can only occur in Co-op, such as completing a quest for 2 NPCs simultaneously to receive double rewards. While this isn't a PvP game, it also provides opportunities to prank your friends, like spreading rumors about them at your base.

Playing Co-op in Wasteland 3 is as simple as selecting Multiplayer from the main menu and inviting a friend. You can also choose to host your game in a public browser or connect directly via your friend's IP address for PC. Just note that this game doesn't support cross-play between PC and Xbox One, so both of you will need to be on the same platform.
Once linked with a friend, you can choose to start a new game or load a save, and then select the difficulty. If starting a new game, each player will customize their Ranger before heading to Colorado. If loading a save with more than 2 characters, the host will need to allocate them through team management. The host can select characters and the number of characters each player controls. In case you're playing with a newcomer to the world of Wasteland 3, you can let them control 1 or 2 Rangers and ease their burden.
In most cases, the host of a Co-op session has control over elements such as team composition, shared chat options, and Kodiak control. However, the host can delegate control to the guest if desired. Both players have autonomy within the team and can independently loot, shop, and even engage in separate conversations with different NPCs simultaneously.

After completing the game, options regarding how each player wants to proceed next time will appear. Both the host and the guest will have a save from the Co-op session they had, and each can choose to continue playing that save alone or wait and continue playing together later.
The options provide you with ways to experience the deep narrative and engaging tactical combat of Wasteland 3 with friends. Wasteland 3 launches with Xbox Game Pass, on Xbox One, and Windows 10 PC on August 28.
