Tanah Lot Temple
This is one of the renowned temples in Bali and is also the most beautiful temple perched on cliffs overlooking the sea. Tanah Lot is located 13km southwest of Tabanan city and is one of the main temples in the worship chain of Bali gods. Tanah Lot is built on top of a giant rock surrounded by the sea. It has become a part of Balinese mythology for centuries.

To reach the temple, visitors must traverse a 50m-long pathway made of black stones and sand, but only those with faith are allowed inside. This means that only those who want to pray or engage in religious activities are permitted to enter the temple.

The unique feature of this sacred temple is the rarity of venomous sea snakes beneath the island. They tend to hide in the rocky crevices and are looked after by caretakers. During low tide, they swim towards the temple to indulge in the prepared meals by the locals of Bali.
Goa Gajah Temple

The next stop on the journey to explore the sacred temples in Bali is the Goa Gajah Temple. It is a collection of ancient architectural structures built near a sloping valley close to the Petanu River, dating back to the 9th to 11th centuries. Located 26km from Denpasar city (Bali), in the village of Pedulu, this place is also known as the Elephant Cave.

Here, you'll feel the tranquility and serenity. Right from the entrance to Goa Gajah, travelers will be truly impressed by the wide mouth of a legendary deity, along with intricate carvings scattered on moss-covered rocks. Locals believe that the fierce appearance of the deity at the cave's entrance will drive away evil spirits and protect the devoted practitioners.
Pura Besakih Temple
This is one of the oldest temples with an existence of nearly 2000 years. The sacred Pura Besakih Temple in Bali is situated on Mount Agung and comprises 21 temples and various small shrines. The locals and respectful visitors refer to it as the “Mother Temple of Bali.”

Visiting the Pura Besakih Temple, tourists are often captivated by the Trinity shrine honoring the trio of gods Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu, adorned with vibrant flowers against the lively backdrop of Bali's nature.
