When it comes to spiritual culture in Quang Ninh, one would immediately think of Yen Tu Pagoda, Cua Ong Pagoda, and Ba Vang Pagoda. However, few know about Loi Am Pagoda in Quang Ninh, famous for its fairy-tale-like scenery.
The location of Loi Am Pagoda in Quang Ninh
Loi Am Pagoda is situated on a road in Dai Yen Ward, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province. It is located on Loi Am mountain with a height of 503 meters, resembling a vast plateau. Behind the pagoda is a stream of soothing water and a perennially clear well. Moreover, near the pagoda is Hang Pagoda, covering an area of 8.5 square meters, which protrudes like a single-roofed house, resembling a giant tortoise.
The Formation History of Loi Am Pagoda
Loi Am Pagoda was established in the 15th century during the reign of King Le Thanh Tong. During the resistance against French colonialism, the pagoda became a stronghold of the 98th Battalion and achieved victory. In 1997, the pagoda was certified as a National Historical Site by the Ministry of Culture. It attracts the largest number of visitors among the temples in Southeast Asia.
Admire the Beauty of Loi Am Pagoda in Quang Ninh
One of the unique features of Loi Am Pagoda is that visitors often bring red bricks to make merit for the pagoda. However, the pagoda has already prepared the bricks, tied in pairs for those with good intentions. Because the ancient pagoda has existed for a long time and has deteriorated over time. Recently, the pagoda has been renovated and expanded with many construction projects. Due to its location on a high mountain, transporting materials is very labor-intensive. Therefore, even if only a few, Buddhists also have to carry at least a pair of bricks to the pagoda to show their sincerity.

The path to the pagoda involves climbing 5 steep hills and 2 gentle slopes. It takes about 1 hour to climb to the pagoda. However, the trail is very challenging, winding, with ups and downs, and slippery during rainy days.

Along the path to the pagoda are tall, majestic ancient trees, and beneath them are stretches of pineapple fields. The scenery in winter is shrouded in white mist, resembling smoke, creating a fairy-tale-like atmosphere.
