Buu Long Pagoda District 9
Perched on a hill to the west of the Dong Nai River, Buu Long Pagoda sits at 81 Nguyen Xien, Long Binh Ward, District 9, approximately 20km from the center of Ho Chi Minh City. Officially named Buu Long Meditation Monastery, it was established in 1942. By 2007, Buu Long Pagoda underwent extensive investment, becoming an architectural gem that harmoniously blends Thai and Indian cultures with Nguyen Dynasty architectural essence.

The main hall and the surrounding temple grounds are entirely constructed based on the design by the abbot Thich Vien Minh. The Gotama Cetiya stupa, the main stupa of the pagoda, is the tallest stupa in Vietnam, standing at 56 meters. It is surrounded by four auxiliary stupas, built in a palace-style architecture with a predominant white color, complemented by vibrant gold at the pinnacle of the Thai-style temple architecture.

Locals often refer to this as the Thai Pagoda due to its distinctive, vibrant architectural style reminiscent of the Land of Golden Temples. (Photo: @nhanvtt)
