Kèm Waterfall – one of the most breathtaking waterfalls in Nghệ An, discovered within the Pù Mát National Park in the early 1990s, housing a rich diversity of flora and fauna (including bears, elephants, and the rare Saola species), now part of the Nghệ An Biosphere Reserve recognized by UNESCO in 2007.

Situated in Lục Dạ commune, Con Cuông, near villages inhabited by the Thai and Dan Lai ethnic groups. In these villages, locals have a unique and delicious dish known as bamboo-cooked rice. The recipe involves using young sticky rice and fresh bamboo to wrap the rice.

To reach Kèm Waterfall, you can commence your journey from the center of Con Cuông district and head southwest for approximately 20 km to arrive at the foot of the waterfall. From a distance, the waterfall resembles a graceful maiden with a delicate figure and fragrant hair, echoing the tales told by the local Thai people.
When traveling to Nghệ An to visit Kèm Waterfall, you will traverse the winding Huồi Mọi road amidst the refreshing breeze before encountering the magnificent beauty of the waterfall, while also admiring the stilt houses of the Dan Lai people along the way. It's not an exaggeration to say that this place resembles a fairyland with tribes dwelling amidst the majestic mountains. Particularly, the nearby Huồi Mọi stream will allow you to observe the small-bodied, silver-scaled cool fish – a renowned specialty in the area.
In addition to being named Kèm Waterfall, this cascade is also known as “Tát Lông Bông” (as per the Thai people). Previously, this area was a pristine forest rarely visited by people (except for hunters). Many forest workers, weary from arduous mountain climbs, often used the waterfall as a landmark to orient themselves. If by chance they became lost, they simply followed the sound of the rushing waterfall back. Locals never imagined this place would become a popular tourist destination.
Surprisingly, even the elderly never anticipated that this place would become bustling with tourists like it is now!

Recently, Kèm Waterfall has emerged as a captivating destination for tourists from far and wide during the summer days. Amidst the heat of Central Vietnam's summer, nothing compares to immersing oneself in the cool, refreshing waters of the waterfall and witnessing the lively fish darting around the small, picturesque rocks, covered in moss...
An intriguing aspect here is that despite the outside temperature in the forest area sometimes reaching nearly 40 degrees Celsius, at the foot of the waterfall, it remains only about 20 degrees Celsius. An ideal space for ecotourism, relaxation, and adventure travel.
Presently, Nghệ An has plans to transform Kèm Waterfall into the primary tourist destination in the region, alongside Phả Lại Lake and Sàng Lẻ Forest - Tourist cluster within Pù Mát National Park. If you have the opportunity to visit Nghệ An, don't overlook these places!
